Hosni Ara River Transport began in 1974 with passenger launches on the inland waterways. In 1981 the family added a cargo fleet under the name Momin & Brothers. The two have since been merged into one company, so a single operation now moves people and goods on the same rivers.
The passenger side runs launches on their routes; the cargo side carries goods between river ports. One management, one crewing pool and one maintenance programme serve both, with A. K. Shipyard, the group's own yard, for repair and refit.
Bangladesh moves on its rivers, and the company has been part of that traffic since 1974.
